Subject:SECOND CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - Vice Chairman, JTC 1 TAG

Due to his recent appointment as JTC 1 TAG Chairman, Mr. Scott Jameson has announced his resignation as JTC 1 TAG Vice Chairman. The JTC 1 TAG Administrator, in keeping with Mr. Jameson's request, announced the first call for volunteers for the position of JTC 1 TAG Vice Chairman. The first call for volunteers closed on December 29, 1998. No candidates were identified.

This second call for volunteers to serve as JTC 1 TAG Vice Chairman will close on March 5, 1999.

Any member of the JTC 1 TAG meeting the requirements set forth below is welcome to volunteer to serve. The principal responsibility of the JTC 1 TAG Vice Chairman is to perform the duties of the JTC 1 TAG Chairman, in the absence of the Chair.

Before one considers volunteering to serve as the JTC 1 TAG Vice Chairman, the commitment in time and responsibilities should be considered. Officers must actively support the administrative structure that ensures due process to all participants, assist in reaching consensus and protect the accreditation of the entire system.

Those willing to make this commitment must submit four written statements in support of their candidacy:

  1. A statement of experience, indicating the volunteer's expertise in the group's program of work, voluntary standards efforts, committee experience and leadership abilities.
  2. A statement indicating that the volunteer's organization is a member in good standing of the JTC 1 TAG.
  3. A statement of management support for a three-year term on company letterhead acknowledging the additional workload, financial resources and duties required of an officer.

The statement of management support for the three-year term is a good faith commitment, not a legal binding commitment. If future circumstances require the applicant to resign from the office before the term has been fulfilled, this will be accepted without prejudice.

  4. A statement acknowledging that the candidate is a representative of a U.S. domiciled organization.

The statements from candidates wishing to serve in the above referenced position should be sent to the JTC 1 TAG Administrator's attention no later than March 5, 1999.
