NCITS Standards Store - Privacy and Security

Privacy

Your right to privacy is a primary concern of NCITS and its parent organization, the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). The information we collect is for the purpose of completing sales through this storefront, and this information is never sold or distributed by NCITS, ITI or CSSinfo to any third parties.

Security and Privacy Options

The NCITS Standards Store is designed to give you options concerning the privacy of your credit card information, name, address, e-mail and any other information you provide us.

We offer industry-standard security called SSL encryption. You also have the option of placing your order by telephone.

Personal information (name, company name, address, telephone number and credit card number ) is collected in order to complete a transaction. The information is retained in a secure database by CSSinfo in order to advise purchasers of NCITS publications of revisions and withdrawals of standards. CSSinfo also sends out catalog mailings or email notifying its customers of new developments on the site, or new documents that might be of interest to them.

With the use of "cookies" we offer a customized site for NCITS, as described below. The experience is different without "cookies." In any case, a customer may decline all future correspondence or a customer may request the deletion of all personal information. Such a request will be immediately honored. All requests should be sent to CSSinfo, 310 Miller Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, USA, telephone 734 930 9277.

Security

  1. Data encryption

  2. Recognizing the importance of your security, the NCITS Standards Store is designed to allow submission of orders in a secure mode. Operating in a secure mode means that your submitted information is encrypted before passing over the Internet.

The NCITS Standards Store utilizes industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to allow for the encryption of potentially sensitive information, such as your name and address, and for critically sensitive information, e.g., your credit card number.

If you are using a security-enabled browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer version 2.1 or greater, or Netscape Navigator version 2.0 or greater), the information you send us regarding your purchase is encrypted, making it extremely difficult to read even if it is wrongly intercepted.

  3. Positive identification

  4. CSSinfo is registered with site identification authorities to enable your browser to confirm the identity of the NCITS Standards Store before any transmission is sent. With this technology, the identity of our site is automatically confirmed behind the scenes prior to the transmission of any of your information requested to complete an online order. If the identity on the digital certificate is not confirmed, your browser will notify you (prior to your sending any personal information) that the potential receiving site looks suspicious and should be avoided

  5. Data Security, Access and Accuracy

  6. The security of the data we keep is ensured by keeping the database behind a firewall and allowing only select employees in the CSSinfo office, with correct permission, to access the data.

We are always happy to update our records as a customer moves, changes jobs, or has other changes. Send any changes to CSSinfo.

  7. Customized Experience and "Cookies"

  8. New technologies are emerging on the Internet that help deliver customized visitor experiences. We use "cookies" to provide a storefront that maximizes the NCITS and CSSinfo partnership by retaining for NCITS shoppers the NCITS portal while letting them use the full set of CSSinfo services (such as access to standards from other SDOs).

Most browsers enable a user to refuse to accept "cookies." If you refuse cookies on this site, you will lose the NCITS portal and drop into the CSSinfo web site, where you can also order NCITS standards.

  9. Alternatives

  10. If you are still concerned about the security of your credit card information, please call 1 800-699-9277 to complete your order.
