6.3 Defect Management Document Review

This was transferred from OMC to NCITS. The purpose is to review the results of a TC's action and decide whether NCITS agrees that the correct type of correction was chosen, e.g., editorial errors can be corrected with an erratum, technical changes are published through an amendment.

When the TC that developed the standard has been disbanded, requests for defect management will be directed to NCITS for resolution.

The criteria for approval for all defect management documents requires a 30-day LB and the criteria for approval is 2/3, as defined by NCITS SD-2.

6.4 NCITS Management Reviews (Milestone 5)

A management review is a self audit of the documentation required to approve a standard. The Secretariat prepares the document, and a liaison reviews the package prior to the meeting. No criteria for approval is defined by the NCITS SD-2.

6.6 Monitoring Recommendations for 5-Year Maintenance

Periodic reviews of standards and technical reports are required by ANSI, JTC 1 and NCITS procedures. The Secretariat notifies each TC of the documents that must be reviewed in a given year. If no action is taken by the TC, action must be taken by NCITS. If the TC that developed the standard no longer exists, the responsibility for the review belongs to NCITS.

Approval for the withdrawal or reaffirmation of technical reports can be a 30-day LB or a meeting vote; the criteria for approval is 2/3, as defined by NCITS SD-2.

Approval for the withdrawal or reaffirmation of standards must obtained through a 6-week LB; the criteria for approval is 2/3, as defined by NCITS SD-2.
