Subject: Request for NCITS/B10 Recommendation on the Withdrawal of International Standard ISO/IEC 10373:1993, Identification cards - Test Methods

The JTC 1 TAG Administrator has received the JTC 1 Request on the "Withdrawal of International Standard ISO/IEC 10373:1993." As a result of the periodical review of the subject-referenced International Standard, ISO/IEC JTC 1 has recommended that the standard be withdrawn.

In accordance with clause 14.2 of the ISO/IEC Directives, Procedures for the technical work of ISO/IEC JTC 1 on Information Technology, all national bodies are invited to vote on the withdrawal of this International Standard.

ATTENTION NCITS/B10

The JTC 1 request is attached for action and information as indicated. The U.S. TAG is required to recommend a vote for the National Body. Please contact bbennett@itic.org for a copy of the standard if it is needed.

The committee is to coordinate and develop the U.S. recommended position to the JTC 1 TAG for approval. The position options are: approval, disapproval or abstention.

IMPORTANT

The committee should return the U.S. recommendation to the JTC 1 TAG Administrator for approval by a 30-day letter ballot no later than June 14, 2001, so that, if necessary, a 10-day reconsideration ballot may be conducted and the U.S. vote forwarded to ANSI by the JTC 1 closing date of July 29, 2001.

ACTION REQUIRED BY JTC 1 TAG

JTC 1 TAG members are required to begin reviewing the document in preparation for expeditiously determining their vote when the U.S. TAG recommendation is submitted to JTC 1 TAG for approval.

JTC 1 TAG members should anticipate the JTC 1 TAG Letter Ballot on this subject posted to the Online Balloting System .
