Subject: Proposed Initial Agenda for the July 2003 INCITS TC Officer Symposium

I have drafted a proposed initial agenda for the next symposium. Since it is going to be scheduled for the summer meeting, I hope we can agree on an agenda before the INCITS meeting in February and propose it to the EB for approval.

There are two themes I was looking at. First, the future of standards from an external perspective (SES, Consortium, Smoot), and secondly a discussion of the new organization, how that fits into the broader view, and TC experience with the new org, with recommendations/actions for the EB following the symposium.

Possible outline and schedule for TC Officers Symposium ­ 2003

First Day:

9 AM to 10:30 AM ­ The future of Standards (SES President)

10:30 AM to 11 AM ­ Break

11 AM to 12:30 PM ­ The value of International Standards ­ Consortia Perspective (SNIA or equivalent)

12:30 PM to 1:30 PM ­ Lunch

1:30 PM to 3 PM ­ The value of International Standards ­ ISO Perspective (Ollie Smoot)

3 PM to 3:30 PM ­ Break

3:30 PM to 5 PM ­ Panel Discussion: The right direction (SES, SNIA, Smoot)

Second Day:

9AM to 10:30 AM ­ The INCITS Roadmap (Chair, INCITS)

10:30 AM to 11 AM ­ Break

11 AM to 12:30 PM ­ INCITS Functional Components (Component Chairs)

12:30 PM to 1:30 PM ­ Lunch

1:30 PM to 3 PM ­ Does the Organization play in Peoria: Chair Discussion (Neumann moderator)
