Bruce,

INCITS received your documents relinquishing the SC 32 Chair at the end of your term in early 2004, and EPA ending support for the SC 32 Secretariat at the end of January 2004, and considered them at the INCITS Executive Board meeting on Monday, 10 February 2003.

INCITS will request ANSI to place a call in ANSI Standards Action for candidates for SC 32 Chairman to replace you at the end of your current term. 

As it is now less than 12 months before the stated termination of EPA support, INCITS will request ANSI to issue a call in ANSI Standards Action
for another party to support the SC 32 Secretariat.  The call will end shortly before the April meeting of INCITS.  If at the end of the call we
have not identified a new party to take over support for the SC 32 Secretariat and INCITS itself is not prepared to provide the monetary
support, I expect that the INCITS Executive Board will then notify JTC 1 of its intent to relinquish the SC 32 Chair and Secretariat, which as you know is a 12 months' notice.  

Although we understand that you believe it likely that the EPA financial support for the SC 32 Secretariat will be extended through January 2005, as we have received formal notification of the termination as of January 2004 we must plan for that date.
