Subject:
Correspondence Regarding the US National Body Endorsement of a US Candidate to Serve as JTC 1/SC 17/WG 9 Secretariat

To:  Brian Beech, B10 Chairman
cc:   Christopher Dyball

Brian -

Since it appears that Dr. Dyball will be assuming Secretariat responsibilities, he will need to submit the following documentation in support of his role as JTC 1/SC 17/WG 9 Secretariat:
1. A statement of experience, indicating the volunteer's expertise in the subgroup's program of work, voluntary standards efforts, committee experience and leadership abilities.

2. A statement indicating that the volunteer's organization is a member in good standing of the associated US TAG.

3. A statement of management support for a three-year term on company letterhead acknowledging the additional workload, financial resources and duties required of an officer over and above that of a technical participant.

The statement of management support for the three-year term is a good faith commitment, not a legal binding commitment. If future circumstances require the applicant to resign from the office before the term has been fulfilled, this will be accepted without prejudice.

4. A statement as to whether or not the candidate is a representative of a US domiciled organization.
Once I have received his documentation, I will ask you to conduct a B10 vote to determine the committee's endorsement of his candidacy.  If a B10 vote has already been conducted, please send me the vote tally and recommendation.  Upon receipt of the B10 endorsement, the matter will be addressed by the INCITS Standards Development Board.  If Dr. Dyball's documentation and the B10 recommendation are available by April 2, it could be addressed at the April SDB meeting.

text from Brian Beech:

John,

Monica has sent me a version of the RD-2 from INCITS.  After reviewing it I am not sure who is responsible for sending the recommendations to the TAG Administrator.

Dr. Dyball is not just planning on taking notes, he is planning on assuming the additional duties as secretary.

Thanks for your help.

Dr. Dyball will have to read the RD2 particularly with respect to US held Secretariates and have to write a letter to Jennifer.  I am sure that a
legal binding Memorandum of Understanding will probably have to be negotiated with ITIC to ensure that all costs associated with this function are covered by Dr. Dyball's company.  You should check with Jennifer exactly as to what is required and then follow her recommendations directly.
