Subject:   Lance Rea Contribution in Response to JTC 1 N 8455 - 30 Day Review for Fast Track Ballot ECMA-376 | ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Office Open XML File Formats

I read that this standard is being "fast-tracked" through the standards process.

ODF already exists as an approved standard and covers this area for document formats.
Please carefully consider the application for OOXML and it's impact on ODF.
We really don't need another standard document format.
OOXML's stance is dubious and seems to be more of a political move to undermine ODF, than a legitimate document format.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Kind Regards,
