SMC-2 (Project 1383-D) is ready to go to first public review. The original T10 letter ballot (T10/02-305r0) passed 39:4:3:1=47 as documented in T10/02-306r0. On September 11, 2003, T10 voted 28:0:1:12=41 to accepted the ballot resolution (T10/03-052r5) and to forward SMC-2 Rev 6, which contains the ballot resolutions. All organizations that had voted No on the original letter ballot asked that their votes be changed to Yes.

The relevant part of the T10 minutes (T10/03-306r0) is:

"8.3    SCSI Medium Changer Commands - 2 (SMC-2) {Project 1383-D} [Oetting]

Erich Oetting reported on the activities of the SMC-2 working group (minutes in 03-326). Erich noted that the working group unanimously recommended acceptance of the letter ballot resolution.

Erich Oetting moved that 03-052r5 be approved as resolving the letter ballot comments on SMC-2 and that SMC-2 Rev 6, which incorporates the letter ballot resolutions, be forwarded to INCITS for further processing toward first public review. Dave Peterson seconded the motion. The motion passed 28:0:1:12=41, meeting the two-thirds rule.

The following people requested that No votes from their organizations be changed to Yes based on the successful resolution of the letter ballot comments:

Rob Elliott, Hewlett Packard,

Paul Entzel, Quantum,

Gerry Houlder, Seagate Technology, and

Erich Oetting, Storage Technology.
