LINUX STUDY GROUP REPORT TO THE INCITS
EB - JANUARY 2006
Dave Thewlis
Convenor, INCITS Linux Study Group
1. At its September 2004 meeting, the INCITS
Executive Board continued the INCITS Study Group on Linux in existence
as the appropriate entity to develop the recommended US positions and
comments on the Linux Standard Base PAS Submission from the Free
Standards Group.
2 INCITS SG
membership is now six organizations:
- Hewlett Packard
- IBM
- Intel
- Oracle Corporation (advisory)
- Sun Microsystems
- USENIX
3. The last report submitted to the INCITS Executive Board
was the report for the October 2005 meeting. Since then the Study
Group has had no meetings.
4. The Study Group on Linux has been requested to prepare a
recommendation to the INCITS Executive Board on JTC 1 N 8017, Technical
Report on Conflicts between ISO/IEC 9945 (POSIX) and ISO/IEC 23360
(Linux Standard Base) for a subsequent EB ballot. The
recommendation is due by 20 January. The Study Group may hold a
conference call to develop the recommendation if written comments
submitted to the Convenor are not sufficient.
5. Except as noted under (4) above, The INCITS Study Group on
Linux has no meeting scheduled
at this time. I do not anticipate a need for a meeting or
teleconference until the first corrigenda report agains IS 23360 is
submitted.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dave Thewlis
Convenor, INCITS Study Group on Linux
