To the Members of the Intellectual Property Rights Policy Committee and Patent Group:

I am pleased to inform you that George Arnold has been appointed to serve as the Chair of the new ANSI Intellectual Property Rights Policy Committee ("IPRPC") and Earl Nied has been appointed to serve as the Chair of the Patent Group, replacing Scott Peterson whose last term expires at the end of this year.  (Dan Bart will continue to serve as Chair of the Copyright Ad Hoc Group.)

Attached hereto are the revised lists of members who will be serving in each of these three groups.

The next meeting of the IPRPC is scheduled to take place on February 13, 2006 to be followed immediately by a meeting of the Patent Group on February 14, 2006.   Both meetings will be held at TIA's offices in Virginia.  Sue Hurst will circulate an email providing all the essential details and requesting that you confirm your attendance.

When we meet in February, the first order of business will be the review of proposed new Operating Procedures that will address, among other things, voting practices and procedures for matters before the IPRPC and PG.  For example, it is currently contemplated that the Chairs of these committees will not have a vote.
