| Subject: | Background Information on US Offer to Host the April 2008 JTC 1/SC 2 Plenary and SC 2/WG 2 Meeting |
| From: | Michel Suignard, INCITS/L2 International Representative |
Jennifer,
The tentative hosting offer has been made, so we
definitively need approval by the EB. The meeting is to take place at Microsoft,
Redmond WA. Initially a SC2 plenary was scheduled for September 2007 and
was delayed until Spring 2008 when it was decided to be held along with
the next SC2/WG2 meeting in the US and this was done quite late in the
gam
There will be no SC2 meeting in Fall 2008.
I thought the preliminary steps for this meeting
had been done. Sorry for the discrepancy as clearly something felt through
the cracks. I have cced Peter and Murray who are also helping in the logistic
of this meeting. If there are documents that should be sent your way (such
as invitation, support, etc…) and that you have not seen, let us know
asap.
It should also said that we have increasing difficulties
to find hosts for these meetings, meaning that it is often becoming a later
decision that it should be otherwise.
Best regards,
Michel

Eric and Michel –
In preparing for the January 2008 EB meeting, I
have been checking SC web sites for information concerning upcoming SC Plenary
meetings. The SC 2 web site indicates that the April 2008 SC 2 Plenary
is tentatively scheduled to be held in the US (west coast). Please
let me know if this information is correct or if it is in error. US
offers to host SC Plenary meetings must be submitted for EB approval at
least 8 months in advance of the meeting. If this tentative hosting
offer has been made, I need to know your plans ASAP so it can be discussed
at the January 2008 EB meeting.
When I checked the SC 2 meeting schedule in advance
of the September 2007 EB meeting, the 2008 SC 2 Plenary was scheduled to
be held in October with Japan as the tentative host.
Thanks in advance for your prompt response.
Best regards -
