Subject: Call for Additional US Representatives to the JTC 1 Study Group on Sensor Networks - Action Item a08.037 from the January 2008 INCITS EB Meeting


Background

In accordance with JTC 1 Gold Coast Resolution 19, JTC 1 established a Study Group on Sensor Networks with the Terms of Reference detailed in JTC 1 N 8810.  The US abstained on this resolution because it had not been proposed in advance of the Plenary.  JTC 1 National Bodies and Subcommittees, AROs and PAS Submitters; ISO or IEC TCs, SCs and WGs in liaison with JTC 1 or its subgroups were invited to name participants to this SG by December 15, 2007.  So far, the following NBs have nominated participants to this Study Group:  Korea (has nominated the Secretariat and Convener), Canada, China, France, Japan, Norway and UK.  The JTC 1 Secretariat has accepted the Korean nomination for Convener.

At the January 2008 meeting of the INCITS Executive Board, the EB discussed US participation on this activity.  It as agreed that the US would participate on the JTC 1 Study Group on Sensor Networks and nominated Dr. Schoechle as the US representative. The representative was authorized to receive materials and disseminate ones of interest to EB. It was further agreed that the INCITS Secretariat would issue a call to the US TAG Chairmen and Administrators to determine whether or not there will be additional US representation on this activity.  

Requested Action

Subsidiary US JTC 1 TAG Chairmen and TAG Administrators are asked to nominate additional US representatives to this activity from their committees' membership.  Nominations should be sent to the INCITS Secretariat (jgarner@itic.org) not later than February 28, 2008 for consideration at the April 2008 INCITS EB meeting.
