Subject: Advance Transmittal of ISO/IEC DIS 20926, Software and systems engineering - Software measurement - IFPUG functional size measurement method 2009

The subject-referenced DIS is enclosed for action and information as indicated. The document is distributed for ISO/IEC JTC 1 final letter ballotunder the PUBLICLY AVAILABLE SPECIFICATION PROCEDURE. The U.S. TAG is required to recommend a vote for the National Body.

ATTENTION U.S. TAG to SC7

The committee is to coordinate and develop the U.S. recommended position to INCITS EB for approval for submission to ISO/IEC JTC 1. The position must be submitted in a format consistent with the guidelines specified by the JTC 1 Directives, Annex M, 5th edition.

The position options are:

• Approval of the technical content of the DIS as presented (editorial or other comments may be
appended);

• Disapproval of the DIS (or DAM) for technical reasons to be stated, with proposals for changes that would
make the document acceptable (acceptance of these proposals shall be referred to the NB concerned for
confirmation that the vote can be changed to approval);

• Abstention.

[Note: Conditional approval should be submitted as a disapproval vote.]

Any comments developed in support of the U.S. position should be presented in the enclosed ISO Comments Template document.

IMPORTANT

The committee should return its recommendation for U.S. vote to the INCITS Secretariat no later than October 6, 2008 for approval by a 30-day letter ballot, so that, if necessary, a 10-day reconsideration ballot may be conducted and the U.S. vote forwarded to ANSI by the JTC 1 closing date of December 5, 2008

ACTION REQUIRED BY INCITS

INCITS EB members are required to begin reviewing the DIS in preparation for determining their vote when the U.S. TAG recommendation is submitted for approval.

INCITS members should review the DIS document at this time and anticipate the INCITS Letter Ballot on this subject posted to the Online Balloting System .
