The subject-referenced DIS is enclosed for action and information as indicated. This document has been distributed for ISO letter ballot at the enquiry stage. The U.S. TAG is required to recommend a vote for the National Body.
ACTION #1 - Recommendation for U.S. Vote
The committee is to coordinate and develop the U.S. recommended position to INCITS EB for approval for submission to ISO. The position must be submitted in a format consistent with the guidelines specified by the ISO/TC 211 Secretariat.
In preparation for submitting the proposed U.S. National Body position for the DIS ballot, the committee should conduct a 30-day letter ballot or roll call vote. The two-third voting approval is required.
The position options are: approve; approve with general, technical and/or editorial comments; disapprove for reasons which are to be explained in the enclosed template with recommended wording which, if accepted, would change the U.S. vote to one of approval, or to abstain.
Any comments developed in support of the U.S. position should be presented in the enclosed ISO Comments Template document.
IMPORTANT
The recommendation should
be received at hte INCITS Secretariat not later than the due date noted above
for aproval by an INCITS EB letter ballot, so that, if necessary, the Executive
Borad letter ballot resolution meeting may be conducted and the U.S. vote
forwarded to ANSI prior to the ISO closing date.
ACTION #2 - Recommendation for INCITS Adoption
The committee should notify the INCITS Secretariat if this standard is unsuitable for adoption as an American National Standard. A vote of majority approval accompanied by comments specifying the reasons for non-adoption is required. The recommendation for non-adoption should be sent simultaneously. INCITS will adopt the ISO/IEC Standard unless notified, see INCITS RD-1, Section 8.7 INCITS Policy on the National Adoption of ISO/IEC JTC 1 and ISO Standards.
ACTION REQUIRED BY INCITS EXECUTIVE BOARD
INCITS EB members are requested
to begin their review of the document in preparation for expeditiously determining
their vote when the U.S. TAG recommendation is submitted for approval and
the INCITS Letter Ballot on this subject is posted
to the Online Balloting
System.
