INCITS Welcomes Adobe as INCITS Executive Board Member

Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2007 - The InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) is pleased to welcome Adobe Systems Incorporated as a new member of the INCITS Executive Board.

“Adobe is a valuable addition to the INCITS Executive Board,” said Karen Higginbottom, INCITS Chair and Director of Standards Initiatives, Office of Strategy & Technology, Hewlett-Packard Company. “As an INCITS Executive Board member, Adobe will work with existing members to promote the effective use of Information and Communication Technology through standardization in a way that balances the interests of all stakeholders and increases the global competitiveness of the member organizations, propose new initiatives and participate in member meetings.”

Adobe joins the current Executive Board comprised of AIM Global Inc, Apple Inc, EIA, EMC Corporation, Farance Inc, GS1 US, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM Corporation, IEEE, Intel Corporation, Lexmark International, Microsoft Corporation, NIST, Oracle Corporation, Sony Electronics Inc, U.S. Department of Defense, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“INCITS Executive Board members have a panoramic view of the INCITS technical committees, technical program of work, and international issues affecting U.S. companies,” said Lynn Barra, Director of INCITS Standards Operations, adding that with INCITS as the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO/IEC JTC 1. “INCITS Executive Board members have direct entry into the international standards arena and may participate as voting members of U.S. delegations.”

Adobe’s footprint in the information technology industry continues to expand with increasing adoption of its technologies and products worldwide. Throughout its 25-year history, Adobe has been an advocate of open standards administered through organizations such as ISO and IEC.

Since its establishment in 1961, the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) has provided the forum of choice for information technology developers, producers and users for the creation and maintenance of ICT standards.
