ANSI X3.42:1990, American National Standard for

Numeric Values in Character Strings for Information 
Interchange

Washington, D.C. -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, 
Information 
Technology announces the two-month public review to 
reaffirm ANSI 
X3.42:1990.  The public review extends from June 9, 1995 
through 
August 8, 1995.

This standard specifies the syntax of the decimal positional 
representaions 
of numeric values which are included in character strings 
which are 
transmitted or recorded for the purpose of information 
interchange.

This standard was reviewed by the technical experts to 
comply with 
ANSI procedures, that require a five-year review of 
approved 
standards.  The technical experts recommended this 
standard be 
reissued without change.
