X3 Announces the Revision Project for X3.175:1990,
19mm ID-1 Recorded
Instrumentation-Digital Cassette Tape Format

Washington, D.C., July, 1995 -- Accredited Standards
Committee
X3, Information Technology, announces the Revision
Project for
X3.175:1990, 19mm ID-1 Recorded Instrumentation-
Digital Cassette Tape
Format. This revision is being done in Technical Committee
X3B5, Digital
Magnetic Tape.

The American National Standard X3.175-1990, was
developed by X3B6
Technical Committee, established the format of information
on 19mm type
ID-1 instrumentation digital cassettes. It specifies the
dimensions and
locations of the helical data, control, time code, and
annotation tracks. It
defines the format and recording requirements of the data
blocks forming
the helical data record containing digital instrumentation
and other
associated data and the content, format, and recording
method for the
control record.

The revision will include terms identified within the current
text and
figures which need to be charged for clarification or
correction as well as
the inclusion of informative annexes for those
recommended practices
which the committee experts approve, and bring X3.175 in
synchronism
with current practice of using the standard.

affected, have an
