X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for X3.280:199x,
Information Technology - Data Compression Algorithm Adaptive Lossless Data Compression (ALDC), Algorithm for Information Interchange

Washington D.C., July 1995 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology is announcing the public review of X3.280:199x.
The comment period extends from July 21, 1995 to September 19, 1995.

This ANSI standard provides the requirements for a lossless compression 
algorithm to reduce the number of bytes required to represent data. The 
algorithm is known as the ALDC (Adaptive Lossless Data Compression) 
algorithm.  The ALDC algorithm has been assigned ISO algorithm identifier 
numbers.

All comments should be submitted to:  X3 Secretariat, Lynn Barra, 1250 
Eye Street NW, Washington DC  20005, lbarra@itic.nw.dc.us.  Send a copy to 
the American National Standards Institute, 11 West 42nd Street, New York, 
NY  10036.
