NEWS RELEASE Doc No.: PR/95-077 Washington, D.C., August, 1995 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology is announcing the approval of a new project for Single Byte Command Code Sets Conection (SBCON). This project is being developed within Technical Committee X3T11, Device Level Interface. The next meeting of X3T11 is scheduled for October 2-6, 1995 in Toronto, Canada. The proposed SBCON standard will be based on and fully compatible with the existing ESCON definition and associated implementations. No functional enhancements to the existing ESCON definition are proposed or anticipated. Technical corrections and clarifications are anticipated. The proposed SBCON standard shall be based on the interfaces and services provided by the ESCON I/O Interface. The proposed work will include: (1) Logical Interface: includes link-level protocol, device-level protocol and common I/O command set; (2) Physical Interface: includes the physical layer and cable planning.
