Accredited Standards Committee * X3, Information Technology NEWS RELEASE Doc. No.: PR/95-082 Reply to: Barbara Bennett (bbennett@itic.nw.dc.us) X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for the Revision of ANSI X3.172:1990, American National Standard Dictionary of Information Technology (ANSDIT) Washington D.C., August 1995 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology is announcing the public review and comment period for X3.172:199x. The comment period extends from September 29, 1995 through November 28, 1995. This draft standard contains concepts used in information technology. In this dictionary, the singular form of the noun and infinitive form of the verb are the term names most often selected to be defined. In general, concepts or term names found in an everyday nontechnical dictionary are not included. Concepts and term names that are: a) from specialized areas of information technology, b) still in development, and c) of a parochial nature, are not necessarily incorporated in this standard. Inevitably, the rapid growth of the field of information technology precludes this standard from being exhaustive and final. This draft can be purchased from the Global Engineering Documents, Inc., 15 Inverness Way East, Englewood, CO 80112-5704. 800-854- 7179 or 303-793-2181.
