X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for
ISO/IEC DIS 9075-4, Information Technology - Database languages -
SQL - Part 4: SQL Persistent Stored Modules (SQL/PSM)

X3, Information Technology is announcing the public comment period for
ISO/IEC DIS 9075-4. The public review extends from December 8, 1995 to
February 6, 1996.
ISO/IEC DIS 9075-4 specifies the syntax, semantics of a database language
for declaring and maintaining persistent database language routine and
invoking them from programs written in a standard programming
language.
The database language for routines includes:
- the specification of statements to direct the flow of control within a
routine; and
- the assignment of the result of expressions to variables.
It also includes the definition of the Information Schema tables that
contain schema information pertaining to persistent stored modules.
The framework for ISO/IEC 9075 is described by the Reference Model of
Data Management (ISO/IEC 10032:1993).
Note: This draft international standard is being processed simultaneously
as an American National Standard and an International Standard. The
public review closes on February 6, 1996. However, in order for comments
to affect the position of the U.S. TAG, they must be received no later than
January 9, 1996. Therefore, all commentors are urged to submit comments
as early as possible in the public review period. Public review comments
received after January 9, 1996 will be addressed and considered for future
balloting and/or revision.

hardcopy with signature is *required* before the comment will be
registered as a formal public review comment.
