X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for 
X3.288:199x, Inforamtion Technology - Fibre Channel Generic Services (FC-GS) 


Washington D.C., February 1996 - Accredited Standards Committee 
X3, Information Technology is announcing the public comment period for 
X3.288:199x.  The public review extends from March 15, 1996 to 
May 14, 1996.

FC-GS describes in detail the basic Fibre Channel services introduced in ANSI 
X3.230:1994, FD-PH.  The Fibre Channel services described in this document are 
Basic Directory Services (DS), Native SNMP Mapping (NSM), Time Services (TS), 
Alias Server (AS).  In addtion to the aforementioned Fibre Channel services, the 
Common Transport (CT) protocol is described.  The common transport service 
provides a common FC-4 for use by the Fibre Channel services.
