X3 Announces the Public Review Comment Period for ISO/IEC CD 14417.3, Information Systems - Flexible magnetic media for digital data interchange -- 19mm (0,748 in) Helical Scan Digital Computer Tape Cassette
Washington D.C., February 1996 - Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology is announcing the public comment period for ISO/IEC CD 14417.3. The public review extends from March 15, 1996 to May 14, 1996. This standard specifies the physical and magnetic characteristics of a 19,0 mm wide tape cassette, including the unrecorded, recorded and file structure requirements to enable information interchange between information processing systems. Three sizes of cassette and two tape thicknesses are defined to allow for physically small data acquisition hardware as well as larger systems capable of using all three sizes interchangeably. Note: This draft international standard is being processed simultaneously as an American National Standard and an International Standard. Public Review Comment Instructions: The public review period closes on May 14, 1996. However, in order for comments to affect the position of the U.S. TAG, they must be received prior to April 22, 1996. Therefore, all commentors are urged to submit comments as early in the public review period as possible. Public review comments received after April 22, 1996 will be addressed and considered for future balloting and/or revision.
