 X3 Announces the Approval of a New Project,
High-Performance Parallel Interface - Auto Configuration
(HIPPI-AC)

Washington D.C., May 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, 
Information Technology announces approval of this new project being 
developed within Technical Committee, X3T11, Device Level Interface.

This project recommends the development of a standard providing
the following characteristics:  


 For each physical layer switch in the Fabric, provide unique logical 
addresses for all physically exiting End Points; 

Automatically change the routing of logical addresses in response to changes 
in the physical Fabric; 

Definition of a routing protocol for automatic configuration; 

Definition of network management information. 


The next meeting of X3T11 is June 10-14, 1996 in Santa Fe, NM.
