X3 Announces the Approval of a New Project
Proposal for Multi-Voltage Electrical Interface and Protocols
Washington D.C., May 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3,
Information Technology is announcing the approval of a new project for
Multi-Voltage Electrical Interface and Protocols, with the work being done
in Technical Committee X3B10, Identification Cards and Related Devices.
The scope of this standard will specify:
- the interface and protocols for interoperability between multi-volt
ICC's and terminals.
- the use of voltages in two or more discrete bands from approximately
3V to approximately 0.5V.
- the performance of the ICC when supplied with a voltage outside of its
operational bands.
It may specify a mechanism by which the ICC will communicate its voltage
requirements to the terminal. It may specify the contact and electrical
characteristics for programming Flash EEPROM on the ICC.
All organizations and individuals who are directly or materially affected
are invited to participate. Please contact the acting Chairman for meeting
information.
