X3 Announces the Approval of a New Project
Proposal for Amendment 1 to ISO/IEC 7810, Tactile Identifiers for
Identification Cards
Washington D.C., May 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3,
Information Technology is announcing the approval of a new project
for an
Amendment to ISO/IEC 7810, Tactile Identifiers for Identification
Cards,
with the work being done in Technical Committee X3B10,
Identification
Cards and Related Devices.
The scope of the proposed standard will identify a single tactile
identifier
for ID-1 size cards that will be compatible with all card technologies.
It
will provide a useful means for visually impaired persons to orient
the
card for proper insertion into a reading device.
All organizations and individuals who are directly or materially
affected
are invited to participate. Please contact the acting Chairman for
meeting
information.
