X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for the
Reaffirmation of ANSI X3.197:1991, Unrecorded Magnetic Tape and Cartridge
for Information Interchange - 1/2 inch (12.65 mm), Serial Serpentine, 22-Track,
6 667 ftpi (262 ftpmm) and 48-Track, 10 000 ftpi (394 ftpmm)
Washington D.C., June 1996 - Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information
Technology is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.197:1991.
The public review extends from July 19, 1996 to September 17, 1996.
This standard provides the requirements for a tape cartridge to be used for
information interchange among information-processing systems, and associated
equipment. This standard also provides the general requirements, definitions,
physical and magnetic tape characteristics, and the tape-cartridge requirements.
In accordance with ANSI procedures, which require a five-year review of
approved standards, the responsible committee, X3B5 recommends this
standard be reissued, without change.
