X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for the Reaffirmation of ANSI X3.56:1986, Recorded Magnetic Tape Cartridge for Information Interchange - 4 Track, 0.250 inch (6.30 mm), 1600 bpi (63 bpmm), Phase Encoded
Washington D.C., June 1996 - Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.56:1986. The public review extends from July 19, 1996 to September 17, 1996. This standard is intended to provide a format and recording standard for a 0.250-inch (6.30 mm) -wide, 4-track, magnetic tape in a cartridge to be used for information interchange between information processing systems, communication systems, and associated equipment utilizing a standard code, as agreed upon by the interchange parties. This standard refers solely to recording on the 0.250-inch (6.30 mm) magnetic tape cartridge. In accordance with ANSI procedures, which require a five-year review of approved standards, the responsible committee, X3B5 recommends this standard be reissued, without change.
