X3 Announces the Public Comment Period for the 
Reaffirmation of ANSI X3.195:1991, Information Systems - Information
Resource Dictionary System (IRDS) - Export/Import File Format


Washington D.C., June 1996 - Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information 
Technology is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.195:1991.  
The public review extends from July 19, 1996 to September 17, 1996.

The Export/Import File Format standard specifies the format of files used in the 
exchange of data between conformant IRDSs.  Use of this standard may be 
appropriate in other situtations; this is not covered in the standard.

In accordance with ANSI procedures, which require a five-year review of 
approved standards, the responsible committee, X3H4 recommends this 
standard be reissued, without change.
