Technology is announcing the public comment period for X3.300:199x.
Development of this draft standard is being done in technical committee X3T11,
Device Level Interface
The public review extends from July 19, 1996 to September 17, 1996.
This draft American National Standard specifies a physical-level interface for
transmitting digital data at 800 Mbit/s or 1600 Mbit/s serially over fiber-optic
cables across distances of up to 10 km. The signalling sequences and protocol
used are compatible with ANSI X3.183:1991, (HIPPI-PH), which is limited to 25
m distances. HIPPI-Serial may be integrated as a host's native interface, or used
as an external extender for HIPPI-PH ports.
