X3 Announces the Approval of a New Project,
SCSI Enclosure Services (SES)
Washington D.C., July 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3,
Information Technology announces approval of this new project being
developed within Technical Committee, X3T10, Lower Level Interface.
The reference number for this project is 1212-D.
The SES standard will define a model for a SCSI Enclosure Services device
type. The command set and command set usage will be described. Formats for
providing different classes of information will be defined. Formats for providing
status and control information for each element and type of element in an
enclosure are defined.
The SES standard will use commands defined in the SPC standard (X3 project
995-D) to transfer these formats. Additional formats are provided for other
enclosure related information. If the committee requests and approves
appropriate text, the SES standard may include additional enclosure related
information, including MIB/MIFs for enclosure information.
The next two meetings of X3T10 are September 9-13, 1996 in Natick, MA (near
Boston) and November 4-8, 1996 in Palm Springs, CA. All organizations and
