X3 Announces the Approval for a New Project,
SCSI Controller Commands (SCC-2)
Washington D.C., September 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3,
Information Technology announces the approval of a new project for SCSI
Controller Commands (SCC-2). Technical Committee X3T10 is responsible for
work on this project.
The SCSI Controller Commands-2 standard is intended to provide a complete set
of commands to complement the SCSI-3 Primary Command Set (X3.301:199x),
and be applicable to devices which act as subsystem controllers, such as a disk
array controllers.
Functions which will be considered for incorporation include:
- Transfer commands unique to SCC-2 devices;
- Control commands to manage the operation of an SCC-2 device;
- Optional device mapping and pass-through support, and;
- Other capabilities which fit within the general scope of implementing the
SCSI Controller Commands-2 on a broad range of applications, and other
capabilities that may be proposed during the development phase by the
participants in the project.

The next meetings of X3T10 are November 4- 8, 1996 in Palm Springs, CA and
January 6-10, 1997 in Dallas, TX. All organizations and individuals who are
materially or directly affected are invited to participate.

trademarks) is now being issued. Please submit information on these
