X3 Announces the Approval of Project Proposal, Revised Fibre Channel Single-Byte Command Code Sets (SBCCS) Mapping Protocol (FC-SBR)

Washington D.C., November 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology announces approval of the revision of X3.271-1996 being developed within Technical Committee, X3T11 X3T11 expects to complete this work, Revised Fibre Channel Single-Byte Command Code Sets (SBCCS) Mapping Protocol (FC-SBR) by October 1997. The reference number for this project is 1239-D.

This project proposal recommends the development of a revision of X3.271-1996 to ensure harmonization with the latest SBCON dpANS. Included within this scope are:

a) Additional details and clarifications discovered during the creation process of the SBCON draft;

b) Other capabilities which fit within the general scope of implementing improvements and clarifications to the definitions contained in FC-SB.

This proposed standard may influence the development of standards being created under presently approved X3T11 projects. It is possible that this proposed standard might define desirable additional capabilities.
