X3 Announces the Approval of a New Task Group -
SQL Call Level Interface (X3H2.2 SQL/CLI)

Washington D.C., November 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology announces the approval of a new task group, SQL Call Level Interface (X3H2.2) to work on Database Language SQL - Part 3, SQL/CLI.

X3H2.2 will specify upward compatible enhancements for Database Language SQL - Part 3, SQL/CLI (ANSI/ISO 9075-3:1996) including capabilities necessary to support object extensions to SQL and the addition of ODBC 3.0 features to SQL/CLI as a top priority.

The scope of X3H2.2 initally will include the development of U.S. positions and contributions, subject to X3H2 approval, on international SQL/CLI matters within ISO/IEC JTC1 SC21 WG3. As the Task Group demonstrates its viability, X3H2 may want to delegate responsibility for determining U.S. positions on SQL/CLI matters within ISO/IEC JTC1 SC21 WG3.

The first meeting of X3H2.2 will be held on Thursday 13 March in Santa Barbara, CA. All individuals who are materially or directly affected are invited toparticipate.
