Washington D.C., December 1996 -- Accredited Standards Committee X3, Information Technology announces approval of this new project being developed within Technical Committee, X3J7, APT. The reference number for this project is 55-R.
This fifth revision of the APT Standard will concentrate on satisfying the above needs. New language will be developed to incorporate the capabilities of new applications into APT. The need to build on the symbolic interface language contained in the current standard will be investigated and new language may be developed to accomplish this. Technical equivalence with ISO and related standards will continue to be a priority. As a maintenance task, the current standard language will be reviewed for its correctness and completeness with regard to current practice.
