Washington D.C., May 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.201:1992. The public review extends from May 9, 1997 to July 8, 1997.
This part of ISO/IEC 9318 provides the mechanical, electrical, and bus protocol requirements for a high-performance interface for peripheral devices attached to computers.
The physical interface described in this part of ISO/IEC 9813 can be operated at rates greater than 50 Mbytes/s on a 16 bit bus and over distances of up to 75 m, depending upon circuit and cable implementation choices. the width of the bus can be expanded in increments of 16 bits if the environment of use requires higher transfer rates.
The purpose of this part of ISO/IEC 9318 is to facilitate the development and utilization of high performance computer systems by providing a common interface at the physical level that provides for connection of peripherals with transfer rates that exceed the performance of other channels.
In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five-year review of approved standards, Technical Committee T11 recommends this standard be withdrawn.
