NCITS Announces the Public Comment Period for the **Withdrawal** of ANSI/ISO 9318-2:1990 (1992), Information Technology - Intelligent Peripheral Interface - Part 2: Device Specific Command Set for Magentic Disk Drives

Washington D.C., May 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI/ISO 9318-2:1990 (1992). The public review extends from May 9, 1997 to July 8, 1997.

This part of ISO/IEC 9318 describes the Logical Level 2 (device level) Interface for disk drives.

The physical, electrical, and configuration characteristics and the transmission protocol of this interface are in accordance with ISO/IEC 9318-1. The interface is capable of handling data rates from 0 to at least 10 Moctets/s, depending on driver and receiver classes.

The purpose of this part of ISO/IEC 9318 is to facilitate the development and utilization of a device level interface which permits the interconnection of disk slave peripherals to a controller.

In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five-year review of approved standards, Technical Committee T11 recommends this standard be withdrawn.
