NCITS Announces the Approval of a New Task Group -
High-Performance Parallel Interface (NCITS T11.1 HIPPI)

Washington D.C., July 1997 - -- NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) announces the approval of a new task group, High-Performance Parallel Interface (T11.1).

TG T11.1 will initially assume responsibility for the Revised HIPPI-FP (702-R), HIPPI-AC (1163-D), HIPPI-6400-PH (1213-D), and HIPPI-6400-SC (1231-D) projects.

The scope of TG T11.1 will include the continued development of the "second generation" (i.e. 6400 Mbits/s) HIPPI standards family and related protocols, and maintenance of the "first generation" published HIPPI standards. The scope will also include the development of U.S. positions and contributions on international HIPPI matters within ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 25 WG 4, subject to T11 approval. TC T11 is also responsible for the Fibre Channel (FC) and Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI) families of standards.

The first meeting of T11.1 will be held on Wednesday August 6, 1997 in Honolulu, HI. All individuals who are materially or directly affected are invited to participate. Further information on this meeting, along with a schedule for T11 meetings thru 1998, can be obtained from http://www.dpt.com/t11.
