NCITS Announces the Approval of a New Task Group -
Physical Variants (NCITS T11.2)
Washington D.C., July 1997 - -- NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) announces the approval of a new task group, Physical Variants (T11.2).
TG T11.2 will initially assume responsibility for the FC-CU TR (1135-DT) and Jitter Specification Methodology TR (1230-DT) projects.
The scope of TG T11.2 will include the continued development of the high-performance optical and electrical physical interface definitions within the Fibre Channel (FC) and High-Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI) standards families. (Note that the FC physical interface definitions have been used as the basis for an number of other standards activities, including Gigabit Ethernet). The scope will also include the development of U.S. positions and contributions on international matters related to the physical interface definitions of FC & HIPPI projects in ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 25 WG 4, subject to T11 approval.

The first meeting of T11.2 will be held on Wednesday August 6, 1997 in Honolulu, HI. All individuals who are materially or directly affected are invited to participate. Further information on this meeting, along with a schedule for T11 meetings thru 1998, can be obtained from http://www.dpt.com/t11.
