NCITS Announces the Public Comment Period for the **Withdrawal** of ANSI X3.128:1986, Contact Start/Stop Storage Disk: 83000 Flux Transition Per Track 130 mm (5.118 In) Outer Diameter 40 mm (1.575 In) Inner Diameter

Washington D.C., July 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.128:1986. The public review extends from August 1, 1997 to September 30, 1997.

This standard provides the mechanical, physical, and magnetic properties of a low friction 130 mm (5.118 in) diameter magnetic disk. Typical recording density is 10 Tracks/mm (254 TPI) with 309 flux transitions per mm (7848 flux transitions per in) at 43 mm (1.690 in) radius.

In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five-year review of approved standards, OMC recommends this standard be withdrawn as the technology does not appear to be in use.
