NCITS Announces the Public Comment Period for the Reaffirmation of ANSI X3.48:1986[R1992], Magnetic Tape Cassettes for Information Interchange - 3.81-mm (0.150-in) tape at 32bpmm (800 bpi), Phase Encoded

Washington D.C., August 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.48:1986[R1992]. The public review extends from August 15, 1997 to October 14, 1997.

This American National Standard for unrecorded and recorded cassettes containing 3.81-mm (0.150-in) -wide magnetic tape presents the minimum requirements for mechanical and magnetic interchangeability of the cassette and for data interchange between information processing systems, which are capable of utilizing a standard code for information interchange as agreed upon by the interchange parties, using a data density of 32 bpmm (800 bpi).

In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five-year review of approved standards, Technical Committee B5 recommends this standard be reissued, without change.
