NCITS Announces the Public Comment Period for the Reaffirmation of ANSI X3.127:1987[R1992], Unrecorded Magnetic Tape for Information Interchange, 0.250 inch (6.30 mm), 6400-10 000 ftpi (252-394 ftpmm)

Washington D.C., August 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.127:1987[R1992]. The public review extends from August 15, 1997 to October 14, 1997.

This American National Standard for an unrecorded cartridge containing 0.250-inch (6.30 mm)-wide magnetic tape presents the minimum requirements for the mechanical and magnetic interchangeability of the cartridge between information processing systems, using physical recording densities in the range of 6400 to 10 000 flux transitions per inch (ftpi) (252 to 394 flux transitions per millimeter (ftpmm)).

In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five-year review of approved standards, Technical Committee B5 recommends this standard be reissued, without change.
