NCITS Announces the Approval of Project Proposal SCSI Socket/SSL Services (SSS) Command Set

Washington D.C., August 1997 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) announces approval of this new project being developed within Technical Committee, T10, I/O Interface - Lower Level. The reference number for this project is 1246-D.

The SSS standard will:

a) define a platform and device independent method of communication between processor devices and communication devices or other devices.
b) be optimized for platform/device independence.
c) provide other capabilities which fit within the general application scope of the SCSI Socket/SSL Service that may be proposed during the development phase by the participants in the project.
