Project 471 - Identification cards - Machine readable travel documents - Part 1: Machine readable passport

The current edition of the following document is adopted as International Standard ISO/IEC 7501-I : 1997: - International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Dot 9303 Part 1 - Machine Readable Passports, Section III, Technical Specifications.

This International Standard specifies the form and provides guidance on the construction of machine readable passports, in particular in relation to the sections of the document containing details of the holder in a form which is both visual and machine readable.

ICAO Dot 9303 Part 1 is maintained by a Technical Advisory Group on Machine Readable Travel Documents (TAG/MRTD). ISO/IEC JTCI has provided liaison during the TAGlMRTD meetings on Dot 9303 Part 1 and considered the technical specifications to which the endorsement notice applies.
