B10.11  General Information

 On 1 December 2007, InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) Task Group B10.11 was formed from the merger of INCITS Task Groups B10.3 Card Durability and related Test Methods and B10.6 Physical Characteristics, Magnetic Stripes, and Test Methods.  B10.11 is a Task Group of B10 ID Cards and Related Devices Technical Committee, and is the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to to ISO/IEC_JTC1 SC17 ID Cards and personal identification, Working Group 1 (WG1)

2. Task Forces are formed as required to assemble the expertise that can focus on specific projects.

B10.6 formed Task Forces in the past for projects such as Card Durability Test Methods, Thin Flexible Cards, and High Coercivity Magnetic stripes. These task Forces were disbanded when the projects were completed, although Card Durability Task Force was transferred to B10.3 in 2000.

Initially, B10.3 formed Task Forces to define and clarify Card Application Profile, Card Failure Mechanisms, and Communications.  In 2000, CDTF was transferred from B10.6 upon approval of the card durability/service life work proposal and initiation of B10.3.  Card Application Profile, Card Failure Mechanisms, and Communications Task Forces completed the components for inclusion in the Card Durability/Service Life Working Document and were disbanded.

With completion of the drafting of a card durability/service life Committee Draft (CD) ISO/IEC 24789-1 and 2, TF2 was disbanded in March of 2008 and the work absorbed by WG1.  Concurrently, the card durability/service life ad hoc task force (formerlly CDTF and B10.3) was disbanded in April of 2008 and the work absorbed by B10.11..
3. Test method developments are limited to those necessary to measure compliance to minimum requirements specified in the base standards.  Refer to CDTF for Card Durability Test Methods
4. New Work Proposal was approved in 1999, currently in Final Committee Draft (FCD) status
5. New Work Proposal was been approved in 2001, currently in Working Draft (WD) status

Annual Report

  INCITS B10.11 does not publish a separate annual report, however, its activities are described in the INCITS B10 Annual report which covers the period from May 2006 through May 2007.

Meetings

INCITS B10.11 Task Group generally meets three times per year, January, April/May and August.    Generally, the meeting is scheduled to take place on the Tuesday prior to the B10 Plenary meeting, which normally is held on Thursday.
