B10.12's major areas of responsibility are the existing suite of standards, ISO/IEC 7816: Identification cards -- Integrated circuit cards and the evolving multi-part standard, ISO/IEC 24727: Identification cards - Integrated Circuit Card Programming Interfaces.

As the U.S. TAG for ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 17/ Work Group 4, B10.12 is responsible for providing recommendations for technical and editorial recommendations to the parent committee, B10, in response to United States national body positions in response to JTC 1 letter ballots.

2008 Annual Report for B10

INCITS B10.12 Task Group generally meets three times per year, January, April/May and August. The B10.12 Meetings are generally scheduled to take place on the Wednesday prior to B10 Plenary meeting which normally is held on Thursday.
