This information was added in at the request of the US std body based on the postal systems. Several of you have stated that the value in the draft standard are "much too high" for the reliable operation of the IC chips. If that is so we need DATA as to what is too high and what would be OK. I am one that like to make decisions based on data and facts and at this time the only data we have is from Cubic. So you that have a problem with the present values for the irradiation please give us your numbers. Time magazine's November 5th issue page 36 describes the basic concepts and mail irradiation process. The USPS has chosen an irradiation dose of about 56 KGy as the lethal dose to kill anthrax spores.
