B10.8 TG Drivers License/ID Cards
On 14 January 2009, the INCITS B10.8 Task Group began the process to transition to the new INCITS IT infrastructure using the Kavi tools. This new system provides access to committee documents, ballots, events and other committee business. As are result, this website was effectively abandoned and will not be updated. Information on specific INCITS committees, including B10.8 can now be found at http://standards.incits.org/home. Please note that a unique user name and password are provided for committee members to access the non-pubic information.

The INCITS B10 Project for US Drivers License Standard has been canceled, but work continues on the International Drivers License standard. B10.8 serves as the US Tag to the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC17 WG10 efforts on International Standardization of Driver License documents. The international standard
establishes guidelines in the format and content of motor vehicle
driver licenses (DLs) to support the requirements of national or
regional motor vehicle authorities and international conventions. It
creates a common basis for international use and recognition of DLs
without impeding individual national and regional authorities in taking
care of their specific needs. DLs and related documents are
defined within the standard, in a broad framework of categories as
documents for separate uses or function including passenger vehicles,
commercial transport vehicles, other
related traffic safety applications (e.g. transport driver recorder
card) and other card functions at the discretion of individual
national/regional motor vehicle authorities. They can be enhanced by
the adoption of machine-readable technologies. B10.11 is organized as follows:

Annual Report |
INCITS B10.8 does not publish a separate annual report, however, its activities are described in the INCITS B10 Annual report which covers the period from May 2006 through May 2007. | ||||||||||||
Meetings |
INCITS B10.8 Task Group generally meets three times per year, January, April/May and August. Generally, the meeting is scheduled to take place on the Wednesday, prior to the B10 Plenary meeting, which normally is held on Thursday.
