Technical Committee L8 is responsible for the development and coordination of proposed National standards and guidelines which address the representation of data in the form of data elements and the tools necessary for the accomplishment of this work.

This technical committee is the U.S. TAG to ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC32/WG2 and provides recommendations on U.S. positions to the JTC 1 TAG.
